A simple trip to the Scottish Highlands turns into a nightmare for Robert Carlton, the Duke of Cantin. A misunderstood act of kindness results in his wedding, at gunpoint, to Fiona, the Laird Stewart’s daughter. Both Robert and Fiona are distraught by the forced marriage, until Robert comes up with a plan –they will remain married for six months, after which, the marriage will be annulled and Fiona will receive a generous settlement.
Robert’s restrictive contract for his new duchess causes Fiona to rebel. Her impeccable beauty, fiery disposition, and her penchant for finding scandal wherever she goes, take Society by storm, and living with the oppressive duke has her wanting out of their marriage sooner than the proposed six months.
To his astonishment, Robert becomes enamored with the many charms of his unorthodox bride. However, remaining chaste was part of their agreement, though desire and jealousy prove a powerful aphrodisiac.
Convincing Fiona of his love is the hardest thing Robert has ever had to do. But when he thinks he’s won her heart, a devastating secret from his past surfaces. Will the promise of an uncertain future with Robert be enough to keep Fiona from filing divorce papers of her own?

Book 4 is the story of Fiona, a Scottish laird's daughter and Robert, Duke of Cantin, cousin to William and Ellis. Theirs is a shotgun wedding which Robert figures out how to get out of almost immediately, however, they have to live together for 6 months before the annulment can be filed. He has no intention of staying married to her for she is not duchess material. Theirs is a very uncomfortable situation. His family and friends like Fiona. Robert only sees her shortcomings. Lady Penny and Lady Olivia are on hand once again to meddle in affairs of the heart.I did not like this story as much as books 1 & 2, because it is primarily about the ongoing misunderstandings of their forced marriage, the idiosyncrasies and vagaries of the ton, and Robert's angst over his father's death, his own role as Duke, and his former love. However the writing quality is consistent over all of the books I have read so far.
This series is about a group of men who are a little older than in some of the romances I have read. They have either served in the army or navy or had previous romances or family tragedies that put them off marriage. They are related as friends, brothers and cousins. I like how the stories fit together.
If you like sweet sometimes, adventurous stories, with no more than kissing, these stories are for you. If you like stories about related characters, but with more spice, try The Stanton Brothers series by Vanessa Kelly.

The Duke Divorce The Reluctant Grooms Book 4 edition by Anne Gallagher Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Horrendous grammar, really interferes with the story. One example, just 2-3 pages in
"Signing off on the last farm records, a shouting erupted from the hallway."
Also, the characters are cardboard. They lack the kind of life that, for example, Mary Balogh's have.
not very interesting
I read the short story collection by this author and thought it was kind of cute and I really am a sucker for stories where the main characters are made to marry and then fall in love so I chose to try this one out. I liked the story but there were two times that I felt there was too much description about what was going on physically between the characters. Since they were already married at that point in the book I have no problem that they were having a physical relationship, I just don't want the details of what is being kissed and grabbed. There are easy ways to keep it clean but let readers know there is a physical attraction or tension between characters. Without those two incidents I would have given this four or five stars.
If you want to read a completely clean book with a similar premise (marriage and then love) try "The Rescue," by Lori Wick. It is very sweet and I have read it again and again. It is christian fiction and while I don't agree with all the ideology mentioned in the book I still enjoy it and at least appreciate a shared belief in Christ.
Even though I liked the plot I really hate the descriptive sexual parts- just be aware.
This is one of the first books that I read by this author back when I wasn't doing reviews. At the start of the story, the h, the daughter of a Scottish Earl, is found with the H, a Duke, after she looked after him all night. He'd been on a drunken night out and was in danger of choking on his own vomit. The h's father then insists on a wedding else he'll shoot the H. The H is most unhappy and agrees with the h that they'll only remain married for 6 months after which time he'll annul the marriage on the grounds of fraud and non-consummation of the vows. The h is a bit of a cinderella, in that once she arrives in London, she cleans up really well but the H is never satisfied with her. He doesn't believe that she'll make a good Duchess. The H was extremely annoying for a lot of the book, particularly in the way he treated the h. She was lovely and patient and put up with an awful lot from him. His to-ing and fro-ing over the h, plus his stubborn intent on going ahead with the annulment after six months was tedious. I had a knot in my stomach most of the way. I have to say that he treated the h like dirt for the first 50% of the book. The story was interesting though and I did keep going until I finished. The ending saved the book from being a total disaster.
This is the first story in many, many years that had me cry. The duke is simply awful. Had it been me I would have kicked the duke in the ... a long time ago but then there is love. One thing I do not like about Ms. Gallagher's books though is that she does not know enough about British peerage titles. A Duchess is simply never addressed as My Lady but as Your Grace just like the Duke is. Apart from that I highly recommend the book.
I enjoyed this book and would recommend it with a few reservations. This author has some good plot ideas and storylines. I think her novels are better than her novellas (which are too rushed), although I did feel that the misunderstanding stage was a bit dragged out, while the resolution was zipped through too quickly. There are some errors and one major frustration is her incorrect use of titles. (Which I understand the author is in the process of amending.) Overall it was a good story (I am a sucker for the stories where the hero and heroine are married before they fall in love) and I liked the characters, although hero is sometimes a jerk.
